KARACHI: Meteorologists have issued a weather advisory stating that the depression in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, with rainfall expected to commence across most parts of Sindh by August 2.

The system, currently under observation, is projected to weaken by July 30 and approach Sindh as a low-pressure area, raising the likelihood of heavy rainfall in several regions, including Hyderabad.

Weather experts have highlighted two potential scenarios for Karachi’s rainfall:

If the system stalls in the Arabian Sea near Kutch, Karachi could experience significant rainfall.

Should the system move toward upper parts of the country, Karachi may only receive light rain.

Citizens have been advised to stay updated with local weather bulletins as the situation evolves.

Second Weather System Expected Around August 6–8

In addition to the current system, meteorologists are monitoring another strong weather system that may impact the country around August 6 or 8. This system is also expected to influence Sindh, potentially bringing further heavy rainfall.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures, including securing loose structures, ensuring proper drainage, and preparing for possible disruptions in daily routines.

The Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has advised residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant. Key recommendations include:

Avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall.

Ensuring emergency supplies, such as food, water, and medications, are readily available.

Monitoring updates from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) for real-time alerts.

The PMD has assured that it will provide timely updates as the systems develop, urging the public to rely on official sources for accurate information.
