As many as 11 members of a family drowned after rainwater flooded the basement of their house in Darra Adam Khel, Kohat District, officials said on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Kohat Rescue Service reported that the basement of the house was inundated with rainwater following a heavy downpour. The spokesman added that the 11 family members, including women and children, were trapped in the flooded basement while they were sleeping. Tragically, all 11 drowned in the rising water.
Meanwhile, heavy rains have ended a prolonged drought in the Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Areas such as Khyber Bara, Jamrud, Landi Kotal, and Tirah Valley have experienced significant rainfall, which has lowered temperatures in the region.
In another incident, two people were rescued after a Suzuki car became trapped under debris from a landslide near Kathwal area on Thandiani Road in Abbottabad on Tuesday. According to Rescue 1122, two ambulances and a rescue vehicle were dispatched to the site. The rescuers successfully extricated an injured man and a child from the wreckage.
After providing first aid, Rescue 1122 personnel transported the two injured individuals to DHQ Hospital in Abbottabad.
