Burj Khalifa lights up on Shah Rukh Khan’s 55th birthday

MM News Staff by MM News Staff
November 3, 2020

DUBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was elated to have featured on the world’s “biggest screen” – Dubai’s Burj Khalifa – on the occasion of his 55th birthday.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is Dubai’s ambassador since 2016, took to social media to share a picture of himself posing in front of the world’s tallest building, which flashed “Happy Birthday Shah Rukh Khan.”

“It’s nice to see myself on the biggest and tallest screen in the world,” the superstar wrote that while he loved this gesture, his kids were “mighty impressed” as well.

His friend and filmmaker Karan Johar also took to Instagram to share a video of the moment. In the video, Johar is heard telling him to face the camera even as the actor is busy “admiring himself” on Burj Khalifa.

Shah Rukh Khan is currently in Dubai with his family to cheer for his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL)e even though the team is out of the play-offs.

It’s nice to see myself on the biggest and tallest screen in the world. My friend #MohamedAlabbar has me on the biggest screen even before my next film. Thanks & love u all @burjkhalifa & @emaardubai . Being my own guest in Dubai… my kids mighty impressed and me is loving it!

A post shared by Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) on Nov 2, 2020 at 12:03pm PST

Earlier in the day, Shah Rukh released a video to thank his fans and admirers for their birthday wishes and assured them that he would have a “bigger, better” party with them next year to make up for the absence of celebrations this time due to coronavirus pandemic.

Khan’s birthday has been an annual ritual with fans crowding outside his bungalow, Mannat in Mumbai to get a glimpse of their favourite star. A week ago, Khan had urged admirers to not gather outside on his birthday and police had barricaded the streets due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Khan posted a video on Twitter and said he was touched by the social work several of his fan clubs carried, including blood donation drive and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits.

“More than wishing me on my birthday some of the work that you boys and girls have been doing, giving your time and resources to people who are in need right now…This is the most wonderful work that we can do. Because you can’t be a lover boy like me without spreading love,” he said in his signature witty style.

“Thank you all of you from far, near and through whatever resources we have. I love you all. Next year we will all get together and have a bigger better party… 56 is better than 55. I miss you all. A big hug to all,” the actor further said.

Many fans, from London, New York, Malaysia and many parts of the India joined the session to cut cakes and wish him. Actors including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao, Anushka Sharma also took showered their love on the superstar.
