NEW YORK: Sikhs for Justice leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has claimed that India could split into nine separate parts by 2047, while also calling on the United Nations to declare Indian Punjab an “occupied territory.”
According to Pannun, the Sikh community is continuing its campaign for the establishment of Khalistan through democratic means, including a referendum and voting. He said that following a successful referendum, a formal petition concerning Indian Punjab would be submitted to the United Nations.
Referring to alleged Indian plots against Sikh leaders in the United States and Canada, Pannun also cited the case of Nikhil Gupta, who pleaded guilty in a US court to a murder-for-hire conspiracy.
Pannun further alleged that a purported nexus between the Modi government and the Taliban was behind terrorism in Pakistan, and accused the Indian government of targeting Sikhs.
He also announced that the next phase of the global referendum on Khalistan is scheduled for October 18, when members of the Sikh community are expected to cast their votes.
