ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Health Dr Zafar Mirza has condemned social media campaign against judiciary.
Dr Mirza condemned a defamation campaign running on social media against the apex court’s judges, adding that he has the highest respect for Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed.
In a series of tweets, Mirza condemned the defamation campaign against the judges and reiterated that he stands by them and will assist the court to the best of his ability.
“I have the highest respect & regard for the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan i.e. Justice Gulzar Ahmed, who is well known for his integrity, competence & patriotism & I hold all the Judges of the SC in the highest esteem,” he tweeted.

Earlier, in a suo-moto case Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed had expressed his displeasure over the performance of the federal government in handling the coronavirus pandemic and questioned the credentials of Dr Mirza while recommending his removal.
Meanwhile, on different social media websites some people had launched a campaign against the apex court’s judges while ‘defending’ the federal government and Dr Mirza’s performance against the court’s observations.
On April 15, Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken a notice of the social media propaganda against the Supreme Court Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad and higher judiciary.
According to a notification issued by Prime Minister Office, the PM Imran Khan directed the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Director General to investigate the matter and take severe action against the culprits.
“Campaigns and offensive words against the chief justice and the judiciary will not be tolerated such elements should be given immediate and strict punishment.” the statement read.
