A young gold medalist engineer tragically lost his life while resisting a robbery in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, has sparked grief and outrage among citizens.
The victim, who had been married just one month prior, was a 27-year-old mechanical engineer residing in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He was fatally shot by armed assailants during a robbery attempt in Block 7 of the neighborhood. Identified as Ertiqa, son of Nadeem, the engineer was attacked near a private school in broad daylight on Saturday.
According to SHO Abdul Rasool Bagheo, the victim was targeted for resisting the robbery. Tragically, a bullet fired by the assailants claimed his life. The viral video depicts the engineer being robbed while riding his motorcycle. Two assailants on motorcycles intercepted him, snatching his motorcycle key and mobile phone.
As the victim attempted to flee towards a nearby car, one of the assailants pursued him. A struggle ensued, resulting in the fatal shooting of the young engineer. The perpetrators then fled the scene.
Ertiqa was employed as an assistant manager at a private chemical company in Karachi’s Port Qasim area. Investigations are ongoing following the circulation of the viral video, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding this senseless tragedy.
