NAROWAL: A shopkeeper was allegedly assaulted by a man and his accomplices over a dispute involving the sale of fake gold in Shah Town near Shakargarh.
According to the affected trader, a man identified as Ilyas allegedly sold fake gold at his shop and received Rs96,000 in return.
The trader said that after having the gold checked and discovering that it was fake, he contacted Ilyas to complain about the matter. He alleged that Ilyas then arrived at the shop with armed accomplices and assaulted him.
CCTV footage that has surfaced purportedly shows the suspects beating the shopkeeper with shoes and allegedly threatening to kill him inside the shop.
The affected trader claimed that despite providing the police with evidence and CCTV footage, a case had not been registered even after five days.
He further alleged that the suspects, whom he described as influential, were pressuring him to reach a settlement.
Police have yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations or confirm whether a case has been registered.
