Sialkot: police have arrested a fugitive suspect who had been wanted for 17 years in connection with the murder of a girl allegedly killed after refusing his marriage proposal.
According to police, the incident took place in 2009 within the jurisdiction of Sabz Pir Police Station, where suspect Naeem Salamat allegedly shot and killed the girl after she rejected his proposal. Following the incident, he went into hiding and was later declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
Police said that during his prolonged period on the run, Salamat changed his hideouts across different parts of the country, including Karachi, Balochistan and Azad Kashmir. He also allegedly altered his identity and personal documents to evade arrest.
After years of evading the law, police finally traced the suspect with the help of modern digital technology and human intelligence and arrested him.
