Karachi witnessed a tragic incident of domestic violence as In Surjani Town, an 18-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws over unmet demands, while in Orangi Town, a mother of four reportedly took her own life due to financial distress.
According to Edhi sources, the deceased was identified as 18-year-old Misbah. Family members stated that she was subjected to violence by her in-laws over the unmet demand for a motorcycle.
They added that Misbah had informed her brother about the abuse and demands prior to the incident.
Relatives alleged that similar incidents of violence had occurred before, but despite complaints, police did not take effective action.
The affected family has demanded the immediate arrest of those involved and the provision of justice.
Police have begun investigating the incident and are collecting evidence from various angles.
Separately, in Orangi Town’s Ghazi Goth area, a woman’s body was found in her home and transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via Edhi ambulance.
SHO Pakistan Bazaar, Miraj Anwar, said that the deceased was identified as 45-year-old Zainab. Initial investigation revealed that she had consumed poisonous medicine at home, committing suicide. She was the mother of four children and had worked in a factory, but had been unemployed for the past several months, which left her in severe financial distress.
