The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened sharply higher on Tuesday, rebounding after a day of heavy losses as investor sentiment improved following reports of a ceasefire in hostilities between Iran and Israel.
At 11:07am, the KSE-100 stood at 170,579.79, an increase of 1,626.09 points, or 0.96%.
Buying interest was seen across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertiliser, oil and gas exploration, and oil marketing companies. Heavyweight stocks such as MARI, OGDC, PPL, POL, HUBCO, PSO, MEBL, and NBP all traded in positive territory.
This recovery came after a weak session on Monday, when renewed Iran–Israel hostilities and fading expectations of an imminent diplomatic resolution pushed the market lower.
The uncertainty drove the KSE-100 below the key 170,000 level for the first time since May 22, 2026, closing at 168,953.71 points.
Meanwhile, the federal government is considering postponing the 2026–27 budget presentation from June 10 to June 12, with a final decision expected within the next couple of days.
Speaking at Parliament House on Monday, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said several budget-related issues are still being finalized, prompting discussions on a revised schedule.
