KARACHI: Intense heat continues to grip Karachi, with temperatures forecast to reach 40°C today. The scorching conditions are expected to persist during the day, although sea breezes moving in from the southwest may bring some relief by evening.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), winds originating from Balochistan and Tharparkar are influencing weather conditions in the city, contributing to the prevailing heat.
The department said hot and dry winds from the northeast and northwest may prevail during the earlier part of the day. However, southwesterly sea breezes are expected to develop in the evening, potentially easing the intensity of the heat.
Hot Weather Expected to Continue on Friday and Saturday
The PMD has forecast that Karachi will continue to experience hot weather on Friday and Saturday, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching 37°C on both days.
The relatively low humidity is expected to reduce the likelihood of heatwave-like conditions, although residents are advised to remain cautious during periods of intense heat.
Residents Advised to Take Precautions
In view of the hot weather, residents are advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day, drink sufficient water and limit prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Children, older adults and people working outdoors are particularly encouraged to take extra precautions to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses.
