ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing renewed internal political uncertainty following reports of a possible governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with party Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi reportedly submitting his resignation to the leadership.
According to party sources, Naqvi has sent his resignation from the post of additional secretary general to the party leadership. The development comes days after PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar reportedly instructed him to issue a formal show-cause notice to Mashal Yousafzai.
The reported resignation has since become a topic of discussion within political circles, amid questions about the circumstances surrounding the development.
Sources said Barrister Gohar has declined to accept Naqvi’s resignation and urged him to continue performing his duties.
The PTI chairman reportedly reminded Naqvi that he was a longstanding party member and a close and trusted associate of the party’s founding chairman. He encouraged him to remain in his position and continue carrying out his responsibilities.
According to party sources, Naqvi remains in office as additional secretary general, as his resignation has not been accepted by the leadership.
