Woman ‘impersonating police official’ to run illicit affairs arrested

KHUSHAB: A woman impersonating a police officer in Khushab district’s Joharabad Town has been arrested along with her alleged complicit.

According to Joharabad Police sources, the alleged police sub-inspector impersonator was wearing a police uniform at the time the raid was conducted after receiving credible information.

The woman Nasreen and her alleged abettor one Ghazanfar were arrested from the Ulfat Colony raid as police alleged they ran a prostitution racket in the area and use fraud police identity for their cover-up. Police said raids are being conducted to arrest the other accomplices of the criminals.

Earlier, Lohi Bher police had claimed to have busted a gang of robbers allegedly involved in prowling people by impersonating police personnel in Islamabad.

On the directives of SSP Rural Zone Malik Naeem Iqbal, a team led by the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sahala and station house officer (SHO) Lohi Bher police conducted a raid in the area.

The gang comprising five members was busted in a targeted riad and recovered fake police uniforms, looted cash, shoes, handcuffs, arms, and ammunition from their possession.

Police further told that a car that the criminals were using to commit robberies was also recovered. The arrested criminals were identified as Imran Sohail, Qamar Mamtaz, Muhammad Gul Faraz, Naimatullah, and Ikramullah.
SHO Lohi Bher police station said the detained robbers involved in looting people of their cash and valuables by impersonating police officials.
Citing initial investing he said, the suspects also confessed to having been involved in several robberies. Police registered FIRs against detainees and started further investigation.
