A court in Wazirabad has sentenced a man to six months in prison and imposed a fine of Rs500,000 after his first wife filed a complaint against him for marrying a second time without her consent.
According to police reports, Ahmad Raza entered into a second marriage without obtaining the legally required permission from his first wife. Upon discovering this, his first wife, who has been married to him for eight years and shares two children with him, took the matter to court.
In her complaint, she said that Raza had violated the legal provisions governing second marriages by failing to seek her approval.

After reviewing the case, Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Aslam Panjotha ruled in favor of the complainant, sentencing Raza to six months in prison and ordering him to pay a fine of Rs500,000.
