TEHRAN: A video attributed to Iranian media purports to show Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, striding into a military operations room where a large screen displays Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor and its coordinates, has gone viral like a wildfire.
The 18-second clip, presented as “rare footage,” comes weeks after Mojtaba succeeded his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in early March during the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. Mojtaba, a mid-ranking cleric in his mid-50s with close ties to the Revolutionary Guards, has largely remained out of public view since being named Supreme Leader by the Assembly of Experts.
A circulating video shows the Supreme Leader of Iran, Imam Mujtaba Khamenei, on his way to the military operations room. A large image of Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor site, complete with its geographic coordinates, is clearly visible inside the room.

The video’s cinematic style and dramatic imagery suggest a direct threat to Israel’s nuclear program, quickly spreading across social media, amplified by recent Iranian missile strikes near the Dimona area that injured dozens but did not hit the nuclear site itself.
However, multiple fact-checks by outlets including Hindustan Times, Times Now and WION have concluded the footage is AI-generated. Analysts cited visual anomalies such as unnatural movements, blurred rendering of hands, and inconsistencies in the background display. No official Iranian state media channels have released or confirmed the clip.
The episode highlights how synthetic media is being deployed in wartime propaganda, blurring lines between fact and fiction. While the video appears designed to project Iranian strength, its rapid debunking underscores the challenges of verifying content in an information environment shaped by both conflict and technology.
