Examining the audacity, shamelessness, and brutality with which the United States is backing Israeli operations in Gaza, one might conclude that it is more a war for U.S. national interests and the survival of the American people than for Israel.
The earnestness and commitment demonstrated by the Joe Biden administration in channeling the wealth of the American people and taxpayers to support Israel’s unilateral aggression against Gaza suggest that, in essence, the U.S. is waging this war. Otherwise, it is perplexing how a foreign conflict could command such unwavering dedication, involving all available resources, including wealth and weaponry.
Despite the outward appearance that the U.S. is fighting for its interests through extensive support, collaboration, and intervention at the state and government levels in Israel, the sentiments of the American people diverge sharply. Their collective opinion appears to oppose the actions and words of the US state and government, which seemingly prioritize Israel’s interests.
While the U.S. stands as the foremost supporter of Israel on the global stage, responsible for the perpetuation of Israel’s brutal actions in Gaza, the worldwide protests against Israel’s aggression indicate that the Palestinian cause resonates strongly. The fact that these protests are most pronounced in the United States suggests a discord between the actions of the government and the sentiments of the American people, raising questions about the involvement of a minority of influential Zionists in steering U.S. foreign policy.
From the outset of Israel’s aggression on Gaza, America’s unwavering alignment with Israel, despite violating democratic and humanitarian principles, has drawn criticism not only from its citizens but also from the global intellectual community. This becomes particularly striking for a country that positions itself as the world’s sole superpower, responsible for establishing peace and democracy globally, yet engages openly in the inhumane process of Palestinian genocide without offering any justification.
As America openly partakes in the genocidal “war” against Palestinians, the lack of global condemnation or scrutiny of its actions is surprising. The absence of any international effort to hold America accountable for its support of Israel’s indiscriminate targeting of millions, including innocent children, women, and the elderly, raises questions about the world’s complicity.
Despite widespread protests in the Western world, including the U.S., against Israel’s oppression and aggression, the continued illegal support from their governments, particularly the U.S., is disheartening. It is time for the world to directly address US’ role, holding it responsible for the ongoing massacre in Gaza alongside Israel.
It is evident that the killing of Gazan children cannot persist without America’s acquiescence. If America, under the leadership of Joe Biden, withdraws support today, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza could end immediately, highlighting Israel’s vulnerability. A former UN official’s remark, envisioning a better world without Israel, emphasizes the potential impact of a single humanitarian decision by the U.S.
