The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced major changes to its visa-on-arrival facility for international travelers, allowing eligible visitors to obtain entry visas directly upon arrival at airports.
According to a June 2026 update, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship has expanded the program to include nationals from six additional countries, enabling them to obtain visas upon arrival without prior application.
From June 25, 2026, ordinary passport holders and their families from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa will be eligible for visa-on-arrival, provided they hold a valid residence permit or visa from one of nine approved countries. Travelers without such documentation will be required to apply for a visa in advance.
Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Egyptian and Nepalese nationals holding valid visas for the US, UK, Europe, Australia or Canada may obtain a 30-day visa on arrival at any UAE airport.
The UAE has also retained existing facilities for Indian nationals, while expanding its list of eligible supporting visas to include New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and South Korea, alongside previously approved countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states, Australia and Canada.
Visa durations will vary depending on nationality and eligibility criteria. Citizens from Gulf and visa-exempt Western countries may receive stays of up to 30 or 90 days.
Indian nationals holding valid US, UK or EU visas will be granted a 14-day visa on arrival. Meanwhile, travelers from Indonesia, Vietnam and newly added countries may receive stays ranging from 14 to 60 days.
Immigration authorities clarified that no third-party agent is required to obtain the visa. Travelers must present themselves at passport control in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah with a passport valid for at least six months, along with a return ticket, hotel booking or accommodation details, and sufficient funds or bank statements.
Officials warned that overstaying beyond the visa period will result in strict penalties, including fines of 50 dirhams per day without exception. Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria are advised to apply online in advance for a 30- or 60-day tourist visa.
