JHELUM: Two children died and 16 others, including four teachers, sustained injuries after the dilapidated wall of a private school collapsed on the stage of a Milad gathering in Jhelum on Friday.
According to details, the rescue operation was launched immediately. However, two children breathed their last on the spot whereas the injured were rushed to District Headquarter Hospital Jhelum.
The rescue team later completed the operation by clearing the rubble. Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has taken notice of the tragic incident, sought a report from the authorities concerned.
CO Education Chaudhry Maroof said that a preliminary investigation has revealed that the Milad stage was erected next to a dilapidated wall, which he added caused the incident to happen.
The education official further said an inquiry into the incident has begun from today and assured that those found responsible will be punished.
