In a historic development, US President Donald Trump, along with the leaders of Egypt, Türkiye, and Qatar, on Monday signed a comprehensive agreement aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The signing ceremony took place in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, co-chaired by President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
Leaders and representatives from 28 countries and three international organizations attended the event, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who represented Pakistan. President Trump described the accord as “a historic day for the people of Gaza”, adding that the peace deal would help establish stability and hope in the region.
Trump said that the peace accord is a breakthrough and a new dawn for the Middle East.
“This success was made possible through the cooperation of our friends, particularly Egypt, whose role in facilitating this peace has been remarkable.”
Trump expressed gratitude to all partner nations that contributed to the agreement, noting that the accord reflects the collective will of the international community to end decades of violence and suffering.
President Trump, Egyptian President el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed the comprehensive peace document, formalising the accord.
Before the summit, President Trump arrived in Egypt, where he was received at the airport by President el-Sisi.
