Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday evening.
Residents of Malakand, Lower Dir, Hangu, Kohat, Bajaur, Swat, Buner, Shangla, and North Waziristan reported feeling tremors from an earthquake on Friday evening.
The tremors were also felt in Sawabi, Upper Dir, and surrounding areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush mountain ranges of Afghanistan at a depth of 70 kilometers.
Following the tremors, people rushed out of their homes reciting Kalma Tayyiba as a precautionary measure. No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received. Authorities are monitoring the situation and advising residents to remain vigilant for any aftershocks.
This earthquake serves as a reminder of the region’s seismic activity, particularly along the fault lines near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
