Travis Kelce spared no details in expressing his regret to Taylor Swift’s dad, ensuring there were no gaps in his apology. The NFL player, captivated by the “Bejeweled” singer’s altered lyrics about their relationship during her Eras Tour concert in Buenos Aires on Nov. 11, unintentionally missed a memorable high-five moment with her father, Scott Swift.
During the Nov. 15 episode of the New Heights podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis reflected on the incident, acknowledging that he left Scott hanging. In a viral video capturing the concert moment, Travis initially puts his head in his hands before cheering as Scott attempts a high-five, eventually patting the Kansas City Chiefs player on the back. Travis, 34, expressed regret over missing the bonding opportunity with Scott.
In response to the incident, Travis apologized to Mr. Swift, acknowledging his blunder. “Oh man, I missed that. I never miss a high five, too. It’s the most electric thing you can do at an event,” he said.
Travis hinted that he had some inkling that Taylor, 33, would change the lyrics but admitted the moment still caught him off-guard. He shared the revelation with his older brother, saying, “Yeah, no, had no clue that—well, I might have had a little bit of a clue. But definitely, when I heard it come out of her mouth, still shocked me. I was like, ‘Oh, sh… she really just said that.'”
The weekend marked several exciting firsts for the couple, including international travel and a dinner with Scott, whom Travis met for the first time in Argentina. Travis wasted no time in trying to convert him into a Chiefs fan, revealing, “I might have persuaded him at dinner the night before when I met him.”
Acknowledging the well-documented nature of his trip to Argentina, Travis provided a formal review of the whirlwind experience. He praised the Eras Tour in Buenos Aires, emphasizing the added enjoyment of knowing he had more to savor. Travis commended Taylor’s performance, stating, “She killed it, and it looked like she was having some fun up there.”
While Travis played cheer captain at Taylor’s recent tour stop, Taylor reciprocated by attending several Kansas City Chiefs games this season.
