Since the dawn of cricket, Pakistan has been given a number of titles to describe them. One of the titles that has stuck with Pakistan, to this date, is that they’re an “unpredictable” side.
When it comes to Pakistan, statistics and predictions can never be used to determine a conclusion and they have proved this numerous times. A recent example of this is the Twenty20 International series played against England in Pakistan and the Tri-nation T20I. The green shirts won the final to claim the trophy by beating the strong team of 120-ball game, New Zealand.
The current team is being led by prolific batsman Babar Azam, who has been in charge since 2019 and his win percentage as a captain is 65.21%.
The opening pair of the Pakistan team in the T20Is is relatively strong but the problem of the team is the middle order. The whole team relies on the top order that is Muhammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, if the pair fails it becomes impossible for the team to post a respectable total or chase down a total posted by the other teams.
Friday’s game displayed by the team was totally different, as the middle order of the team fired at the right time just before the mega event of T20I world cup as the top order failed. The firey innings of Muhammad Nawaz and Haider Ali help Pakistan to chase down the 164-run target posted by the blackcaps.
The good news for Pakistan is that Fakhar Zaman has also recovered from the injury and has been included in the squad for the World Cup. This will surely add positives to the playing eleven.
Pakistan needs to play the fearless game and the attacking approach is needed as the middle order showed a promising positive approach. The attacking and positive approach will surely help the green shirts at the mega event.
