TEHRAN: Two oil tankers were reportedly targeted by unidentified projectiles near the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over the safety of maritime traffic in the region.
According to the British maritime agency, the first tanker came under attack while exiting the Strait of Hormuz. The incident caused a small fire onboard and disrupted the vessel’s power supply. The fire was later brought under control, allowing the tanker to resume its journey. No casualties or environmental damage were reported.
Later, another crude oil tanker was reportedly struck by an unidentified projectile east of Oman. All crew members were reported safe, with no environmental damage reported.
British maritime authorities said investigations into both incidents are underway.
