ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari has said that she was thankful to everyone for helping the Zainab Alert Bill getting passed.
In a series of tweets, Dr. Shireen Mazari wrote, “Finally today Zainab Alert Bill was passed with Senate amendments by NA and will now go to President for signing into law.”
She also appreciated Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar for his continuous struggle for approving the bill, she wrote, ” It has been a long struggle which Umar began in last National Assembly.

In a tweet, she also said that she wanted to thank everyone inside and outside Parliament for helping us get the Bill through all the hurdles.

Earlier today, the Zainab Bill which was approved earlier launched an app with the name of the Zainab App in Karachi.
The bill is named after a seven-year-old Zainab Ansari who was raped and killed in Kasur. She went missing and her body was found on a pile of garbage. The brutal rape and murder had triggered angry countrywide protests. Zainab’s murderer was hanged in Kot Lakhpat jail the same year.
