KARACHI: A massive fire that broke out at a cloth market in Nazimabad area been doused by firefighters on Monday after several hours of struggle.
Several shops and pushcarts were destroyed in the fire that erupted in Chawla market in Nazimabad No. 2, causing massive losses. However, no casualties were fortunately reported in the incident. The fire reportedly erupted in the stalls set up in front of the shops which swiftly engulfed several shops in the market.
Six fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after hectic efforts. The shop owners protested against the fire brigade staff and even attacked some journalists present at the site of the incident.

Rescue officials said that no one was killed or wounded in the blaze, however, items worth millions were destroyed. The cause of the fire could be ascertained. Deputy commissioner central said that the fire broke out at pushcarts located in front of the market which gradually engulfed the market.
Last week, a fire erupted in a local church in Korangi’s Number 3 area in mysterious circumstances, damaging walls and furniture in the place of worship. However, no casualty or injury was reported in the unfortunate incident. Rescue teams said the fire has been defused and the situation was under control.
