In a leaked audio that has gone viral on social media, former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed could be heard asking a person whether PML-N leader Jalil Sharaqpuri is being paid off to resign. However, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Jaleel Sharaqpori has categorically denied taking money for his resignation from Punjab assembly, saying he warned Imran Khan about Aleem Khan and now he is warning him about Sheikh Rasheed.
An audio of Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed had surfaced where he was heard talking about a ‘payment’ to Jaleel Sharaqpori.
Sheikh Rasheed reportedly asked a close associate if an MPA from Sheikhupura had been paid off. This was detailed in a conversation between the two individuals in an audio of their telephonic conversation leaked to the media on Sunday.
In the leaked audio, the former federal minister can be heard asking if payment had been made to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) PP-139 Sheikhupura-V MPA [Jaleel Ahmed] Sharaqpuri.
The person on the other end, who has been identified as Gul Zaman, replies: “For god’s sake, we are on call.”

The alleged Sheikh Rasheed audio conversation goes like this:
“It doesn’t matter,” Rasheed continued in the leaked audio.
“I have assured them of victory in Lahore just because of you,” he said.
If you have promised it on my behalf, then by the grace Allah it will happen, Zaman says.
“But you people haven’t even left your home, it’s a big election day,” complained former minister.
However, PML-N leader Jaleel Sharaqpori denied to taking any amount in exchange for resigning from the Punjab Assembly. He was elected on PML-N’s ticket in the 2018 general elections and resigned from his seat just one day ahead of the by-polls in Punjab.
Jaleel denied to any transaction of money for his resignation from the provincial seat. He added that he warned PTI Chief Imran Khan about Aleem Khan and is now warning him about Sheikh Rasheed. Sheikh Rasheed is Imran Khan’s enemy, he added.
Two more members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) on reserved seats for minorities belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will resign by tomorrow, PTI MPA Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan claimed on Sunday as the two parties fight for 20 seats of the assembly during by-polls today.
PTI MPA Fayaz Chohan said that the PML-N would now require 15 seats to claim chief ministership in the province. “We will not let them even win a single seat,” he said.
