KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday acquitted Shoaib Shaikh, co-chairman of BOL News channel and Axact CEO, in Fake Degree case.

Shaikh was arrested by FIA in Islamabad on Thursday for avoiding investigation in a case of allegedly bribing a judge for his acquittal. The investigation agency has summoned Shaikh to join investigation but he didn’t pay heed, after which the FIA arrested him in Islamabad.

He has been accused of giving Rs5 million in bribe to former additional sessions judge Pervaiz Qadir Memon for acquittal in the fake degree case.
The SHC today declared that the FIA failed to provide any solid evidence against the accused.
During the course of the proceedings today, the FIA investigation officer admitted that earlier, he had no knowledge of ‘online education system’, to which the CJ SHC scolded him, saying that the accused were dragged into courts for 8 years, and that would certainly have created bad image for the country.
