KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Senior Vice President of Karachi Division and Adviser to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Mahmood Moulvi has paid a surprise visit to the port of Karachi following the closure of ships.
According to details, all ships coming and going from abroad were stopped at Karachi port. Due to a dispute between the fishermen and the management, the flights have been closed since 6 am today.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Maritime Affairs Mahmood Moulvi paid an emergency visit to Karachi Port. Talking to the media, Special Assistant Mahmood Moulvi said that matters would be resolved soon and the channel would be reopened. “I have come to the port myself considering the seriousness of the matter,” he maintained.
Earlier, boarding cards were not issued to more than 70 passengers heading to Dubai at Jinnah International Airport. Passengers heading to Dubai were barred from traveling to Karachi airport yesterday, and boarding cards could not be issued to more than 70 passengers.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi said that the Sindh government was trying to seize the land of Karachi Port Trust.
In a message on social networking site Twitter during February last year, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi said that the Sindh government was trying to take over PT lands in the name of tree planting.
