Lahore: The recent increase in the prices of petroleum products has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Advocate Azhar Siddique has filed a petition against increasing the prices of petroleum products in the Lahore High Court on behalf of the Judicial Activism Panel.
In the petition, the position has been taken that the prices of petroleum products have decreased at the international level but have increased in Pakistan. The increase in the prices of petroleum products before Eid-ul-Fitr will bring a storm of inflation.
The petition has asked LHC to prevent the implementation of the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
The federal government on Sunday increased the petrol price by Rs9.66 per liter for the next fortnight. After the latest hike, the new price of petrol reached Rs289.41 per liter.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been slashed by Rs3.32 per liter to Rs282.24.The government attributed the hike to the recent surge in global crude prices.
