LAHORE: The Punjab government is set to conduct the balloting for the Chief Minister’s Bike Scheme 2024 on May 10 (Friday), aiming to distribute 19,000 petrol motorcycles and 1,000 electric bikes among students selected through a balloting process.
Of the 19,000 petrol bikes, 11,676 are designated for male students, while 7,324 are for female students. Similarly, out of the 1,000 electric bikes, 700 are earmarked for male students and 300 for female students.
Under the scheme, the financing for electric bikes is capped at Rs250,000, while for petrol bikes, it’s capped at Rs150,000. Should a student opt for a bike exceeding these prices, they must pay the excess amount upfront to the Bank of Punjab (BOP) upon their successful declaration by BOP. The Punjab Government will not cover any costs beyond the mentioned limits, and the bike selection must be made from the options available on the web portal.
The balloting process will be conducted electronically, managed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Although reports indicate the balloting will occur on May 10, there’s no official confirmation yet.
The list of successful candidates in the balloting will be promptly updated once shared by the government.
