ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan on Tuesday slashed the price of petrol by Rs5.45 per liter from Rs293.94 to Rs288.49 for the next fortnight.
In a statement, the Finance Ministry emphasized that these adjustments are in accordance with the suggestions of the fuel regulator, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Effective May 1st, the revised petrol price stands at Rs288.49 per liter, a decrease from the earlier Rs293.94. Similarly, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced to Rs281.96 per liter from the previous rate of Rs290.38.
A notification issued by the Finance Division on Tuesday confirms the implementation of these new fuel prices.
On April 15, the federal government had increased the price of petrol by Rs4.53, taking the rate to Rs293.94 per liter.
The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was raised by Rs8.14 per liter to Rs290.38.
In the review before, the government had increased the petrol price by Rs9.66 per liter, while reducing the diesel price by Rs3.32 per liter.
