PESHAWAR: A majority of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have proposed postponing the party’s long march during in a leadership meeting, according to sources.
The meeting was attended by Barrister Gohar, Sohail Afridi, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Junaid Akbar and other party leaders. A majority of participants proposed postponing the long march until sometime between October 5 and 10, while describing the government’s decision to block roads as a sign of panic.
The meeting discussed the ongoing political situation, with the closure of routes leading to Islamabad and elsewhere being described as a success for the movement.
PTI leaders also expressed reservations over the roles of Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas. Participants were informed that the party leadership was in contact with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
A proposal to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) between October 6 and 10 was also discussed, while the performance of the party’s organisational chapters in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan was reviewed.
The participants further discussed the possible transfer of Imran Khan to a hospital and potential concessions for Bushra Bibi. The meeting also proposed intensifying contacts with all opposition parties.
