KARACHI: There is an oil and gas crisis in the country due to which many power plants have been shut down and people are facing many hours of load shedding.
According to the sources of power division, the demand for electricity in the country is 28, 200 megawatts while the production is 21, 800 megawatts, due to which the shortfall of electricity in the country has become 6 thousand 800 megawatts.
Sources of the Power Division said that many power plants have been shut down due to a lack of oil and gas, but due to the shutdown of power plants, people across the country have to face many hours of a power outage. According to the Power Division, oil and gas-fired power plants have been shut down in August and September to reduce circular demand.

According to power distribution sources, the average load shedding of 5 hours in cities and 8 hours in villages is ongoing due to the shutdown of power plants. It should be noted that monsoon rains are continuing across the country due to which the weather is pleasant in various cities and the demand for electricity is decreasing. However, despite this, the load shedding process could not stop.
