ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered his economic team to submit a report on recently hiked petroleum prices.
The prime minister discussed the matter with his economic team and directed them to immediately submit a comparative report on petroleum prices with other countries.
The report, as per details, will also be included with the surge in petroleum rates in the international market. Following a strong public reaction against hike in petroleum prices, the prime minister also directed Federal Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub and Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan (SAPM) on Petroleum Nadeem Babar to hold a press conference and apprise the nation of facts and reasons behind the increase in petroleum prices.
Moreover, the hike in prices of petroleum products has also been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) today.
A notification was issued on Friday evening stating that Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a summary of recommendations to increase the prices of petroleum products “in view of the rising oil prices trend in the global market.”
Petrol prices have been hiked by a massive up Rs25.58 per litre and will now be sold at Rs100.10 per litre. The prices of high-speed diesel (HSD), kerosene oil, and light diesel were increased Rs21.31, Rs23.50, and Rs17.84 per litre respectively.
