PESHAWAR: A petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) accusing two inspectors of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) of illegally detaining a citizen and demanding money for his release.
According to local journalist Muhammad Faheem, the petition has named the Ministry of Interior, the NCCIA and the concerned inspectors as respondents.

According to the contents of the petition, a copy of which is available with *Dawn.com*, the petitioner is a chartered accountant by profession and is associated with the construction business.
He claimed that he was picked up by the concerned officers from a private restaurant in Peshawar on July 2 without any warrant or legal justification and shifted to their office.
The petitioner alleged that he was subjected to torture in custody and that the officials demanded Rs25 million in exchange for his release.
It has been further alleged in the petition that Rs52 million and a mobile phone were taken from his possession and that his thumb impressions were obtained on a confessional statement under duress during the alleged torture.
The petitioner stated that he later underwent a medical examination at a private hospital in Islamabad, the report of which, according to him, confirmed signs of physical torture.
The petition has requested the court to order a transparent inquiry into the incident and to direct the immediate preservation of CCTV footage of the concerned restaurant and the NCCIA office, along with all relevant digital and electronic records, to prevent tampering.
The court is yet to fix the petition for hearing.
