Pakistan’s Supreme Court will hear a petition challenging the extension of the army chief’s term on November 20. A seven-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, will hear the case.

The bench will also hear a separate petition challenging the formation of an audio leaks commission on November 21.

The constitutional bench comprises Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan.

The petition challenging the army chief’s extended tenure was filed by Mahmoud Akhtar Naqvi. The petition against the audio leaks commission was filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and others.

Earlier this month, parliament passed an amendment extending the terms of the chiefs of all three armed forces from three to five years.

Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani subsequently signed the bill into law.
