ISLAMABAD: The ruling coalition alliance has denied reports of division over talks with the opposition party amid a deepening political and judicial crisis.
Late on Tuesday, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb issued a statement to media, stating that all parties to the ruling coalition were “united” and there was no truth in the false reports about its meeting.
Her statement came after several media outlets reported that Molana Fazlur Rahman of JUIF was strictly opposed to holding talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). However, during the meeting, the majority of political forces voiced their support for Bilawal Bhutto’s stance of holding talks with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
In her statement, Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed regret that the media started airing news regarding the meeting before the issuance of the final communiqué. She said decisions were being taken with the input of all the parties, which were united. The minister promised that the information minister would issue a joint communiqué of the meeting as consultations were still underway.
