The Pakistan Cricket Board stopped the national team from travelling to the stadium for the game against the UAE as the issue of removing match referee Andy Pycroft from the event, over allegations of biased behavior during the Pakistan-India match, intensified.
According to details, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is working to find a middle ground following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) demand to remove Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup. Senior ICC officials have convened an emergency meeting in Dubai to resolve the dispute.
Representatives from the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) are attending the crucial meeting in Dubai, while senior PCB officials are participating via video link.
The emergency meeting is discussing the ‘no handshake’ controversy and the potential replacement of the match referee. A decision on whether to remove the referee is expected after the meeting.
Sources told Dawn News that the ICC may ask Andy Pycroft to apologize to the Pakistan team over the ‘no handshake’ incident. If an apology is issued, the matter is likely to be resolved.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team has been instructed to stay prepared for the important match. The national players are still at the hotel, but their equipment has been loaded onto the bus headed to the stadium.
It is noted that the match between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is scheduled to start today at 7 pm.
