Overseas Pakistanis Send $3.65 Billion in Remittances in August 2026

KARACHI: Overseas Pakistanis continued to provide vital support to the country’s economy, sending $3.656 billion in remittances to Pakistan during August 2026.

According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), remittances increased by 16.5% year-on-year in August, while they also recorded a modest 0.7% increase compared with July 2026.

During the first two months of fiscal year 2027, covering July and August, Pakistan received a total of $7.3 billion in workers’ remittances, compared with $6.4 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This represents a 14.7% year-on-year increase during the first two months of FY2027.

Which countries sent the most remittances?

Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in August 2026. The country’s expatriate community sent $873.5 million to Pakistan, up 19% from the $737 million received in August 2025. However, remittances from Saudi Arabia declined by 4% month-on-month, compared with $914 million in July 2026.

Remittances from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reached $749.8 million in August 2026, marking a 17% increase from $643 million recorded in August 2025. On a monthly basis, inflows from the UAE rose by 2%, compared with $737 million received in July.

Pakistanis residing in the United Kingdom sent $563.7 million in August, an increase of 22% compared with $463 million received during the same month last year.

Remittances from the United States stood at $308.9 million in August 2026, up 16% from $267 million in August 2025. However, inflows from the US declined by 2% compared with July 2026.

Meanwhile, Pakistan received $496 million in remittances from European Union member states during August. The amount was 7% higher on a month-on-month basis than the $461 million received in July 2026.
