RIYADH: At least 11 civilians, including a Pakistani national, were injured after Houthi rebels launched an attack on the southern Saudi city of Najran, Saudi authorities confirmed.
According to initial reports, the attack targeted civilian areas in Najran, leaving 11 people wounded. Those injured include 7 Saudi citizens, a Yemeni national, 2 Egyptian nationals and one Pakistani citizen. The condition of the injured Pakistani has not yet been disclosed.
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from the Saudi leadership, which described the Houthi attacks as a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, Saudi officials have warned of further threats, stating that intelligence indicates a pro-Iranian group is preparing to launch attacks on the Kingdom. Officials said Iraqi militias and the Houthi Revolutionary Guards may carry out strikes under the guidance of the group.
According to Saudi intelligence, movement of drones and missiles has been observed, raising fears that energy facilities, ports and airports could be targeted.
Saudi officials have reiterated that any aggression against the Kingdom will be met with a strong and decisive response. They added that diplomatic contacts are ongoing with all relevant parties, including Iran, and that negotiations appear to be moving in the right direction.
