KP rain-related incidents claim 7 lives, leave 33 injured

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in the upper regions of the country between 10 and 12 May.

According to the Met Office, various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to receive rain during this period. In Islamabad, rainfall accompanied by strong winds is also likely.

The forecast further indicates that different parts of the Potohar region and other areas of Punjab may also experience showers. Between 11 and 13 May, rain is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In contrast, several areas of southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan are likely to remain under intense heat conditions.

Separately, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab had earlier warned that during May, June, and July, the province could experience above-normal rainfall along with rising temperatures.

The advisory also stated that northern and north-western regions of Punjab were likely to receive above-average rainfall, while central Punjab would see normal rainfall and eastern areas slightly below normal precipitation.

Officials further cautioned that temperatures across the province are expected to remain above average during May, with a severe heatwave forecast between 7 and 11 May, particularly affecting most districts of Punjab.
