A significant increase was recorded in the bilateral trade volume between Pakistan and the United States during the last financial year. According to official statistics, Pakistan–US bilateral trade grew by 16% to reach $7.598 billion, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to documents from the Ministry of Finance and the Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan exported goods worth $5.83 billion to the US during the financial year, which is 10% higher compared to the previous year.
During this period, imports from the US stood at $1.763 billion, which is 40% higher than the previous year. Pakistan’s trade surplus with the US in one year was recorded at over $4 billion.
According to official documents, the largest share in exports was of bed, table, toilet, and kitchen linens, with a value of $1.038 billion. Exports of men’s suits, jackets, and trousers stood at $936 million, while exports of ready-made garments and dress patterns were $386 million.
T-shirt exports were valued at $361 million, jerseys and pullovers at $312 million, and socks at $278 million. In addition, leather goods worth $165 million and women’s garments worth $157 million were exported to the US.
On the other hand, the largest import from the US to Pakistan was cotton worth $393 million. In addition, imports of iron and steel scrap were approximately $160 million, soybeans $137 million, coal $56 million, and turbojets and gas turbines $50 million.
Similarly, imports of computer machines were $40 million, petroleum oil $38 million, electromedical equipment $36 million, and dried fruits $33 million.
