Pakistan has pledged $639.54 million for polio eradication during the High-Level Pledging Movement held in Abu Dhabi.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, H.E. Ahsan Iqbal Choudhry, represented Pakistan at the event, organized by the UAE government in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
The minister thanked President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his continuous efforts to protect millions of children from polio, and for the strong partnership between Pakistan and the UAE built on trust, humanity, and shared goals.
He asserted that eradicating polio in Pakistan is both a moral responsibility and a national duty, which the country is fulfilling with solidarity, determination, and national resolve.
Iqbal highlighted that polio virus transmission in Pakistan is at its lowest level in decades, vaccination quality is steadily improving, surveillance systems are at their strongest, and community trust continues to grow.
He confirmed that Pakistan is committing $639.54 million over the next four years to ensure a polio-free future, describing the pledge as a symbol of the country’s dedication and firm commitment to completely eliminating the disease.
