A remarkable love story from China has gone viral, involving a woman who married the soldier who saved her life during the devastating 2008 earthquake.
According to Chinese media, the couple’s story came to public attention during a mass wedding ceremony held on November 29 in Changsha, Hunan Province, where 37 couples tied the knot, including them.
Reports stated that during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, 22-year-old soldier Liang Zhibin was deployed for rescue operations. During a four-hour rescue mission, he pulled 10-year-old Liu Ximei from the rubble of a collapsed building and ensured she reached the hospital safely.
After recovering, Liu moved with her family to Zhuzhou. Over time, her memory of the soldier remained only as a faint image.
The story took a turn in 2020 when Liu, following her mother’s guidance, recognized Liang Zhibin at a hotel—the same soldier who had saved her years earlier. She approached him to confirm his identity, and their connection was reestablished.
Later, Liu added Liang on social media, and their conversations gradually developed into a relationship, leading to love and eventually marriage.
Their unique story has become widely popular on social media, with many users describing it as a twist of fate and a real-life fairy tale.Residents of a displacement camp in the Gaza Strip were seen pooling whatever limited resources they had to construct a new mosque, working together despite the hardships they continue to face.
