The government has announced another increase in the prices of petroleum products.
According to an official notification, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by PKR 7.83 per litre, bringing the new retail price to PKR 375.04 per litre.
The notification also states that the price of petrol has been raised by PKR 6.39 per litre, taking the new retail price to PKR 327.12 per litre.
According to the notification, the revised prices for petrol and diesel will be effective for July 23.
Following the increase, petrol consumers will have to pay a higher price for fuel, while the rise in diesel prices is expected to increase transportation and agricultural costs due to its widespread use in commercial vehicles, buses, trucks and farming machinery.
The adjustment in petroleum prices is linked to changes in international oil prices and the exchange rate, according to officials.
The increase is likely to put additional pressure on consumers already facing rising costs of essential commodities, as higher fuel prices generally impact electricity generation, transport fares and prices of goods across the country.
