The Ministry of Housing and Works has submitted a report regarding the proposed increase in the rent ceiling for federal government employees to the federal cabinet.
The recommendation suggests a 125 percent increase in the rent ceiling for employees located in six major cities across the country, namely Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta.
Specifically, a 125 percent increase is proposed for employees in grades 1 to 6, while a 100 percent increase is suggested for those in grades 7 to 10, and a 60 percent increase for employees in grades 11 to 22.
For employees in grades 1 to 2, the ministry recommends raising the rent ceiling from Rs 7,029 to Rs 15,815. For grades 3 to 6, the increase would be from Rs 10,980 to Rs 24,705.
The proposed adjustments for grades 7 to 10 would see the rent ceiling rise from Rs 16,403 to Rs 32,806, and for grades 11 to 13, from Rs 27,744 to Rs 35,590.
Additionally, for employees in grades 14 to 16, the rent limit in Islamabad is set to increase from Rs 31,085 to Rs 49,736. For grades 17 to 18, the increase will be from Rs 41,147 to Rs 65,835, while for grade 19, it will rise from Rs 54,705 to Rs 54,70524.
For grade 20 employees, the proposed increase is from Rs 68,700 to Rs 109,920, and for grade 21 employees, the rental ceiling in Islamabad will rise from Rs 82,261 to Rs 131,618.
Finally, for grade 22 employees, the ministry has proposed an increase in the rental ceiling from Rs 98,444 to Rs 157,510.
