Pakistan’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), has increased oil production from its Well Kal-03 in Chakwal district, Punjab, by 1,400 percent.
The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of this major development in a notice sent on Monday. According to OGDCL, the achievement was made possible through successful well maintenance and cleaning operations.
Before this technical intervention, the well was producing around 50 barrels of oil per day under natural flow. Following a planned workover, including multi-stage physico-chemical treatment and the installation of an Electric Submersible Pump (ESP), production has now increased to 750 barrels per day, reflecting a 1,400 percent rise.
OGDCL said that this activity is part of its production optimization program aimed at sustaining and enhancing output from mature fields.
Last month, the company had increased production at the Pasakhi-7 well in Hyderabad district, Sindh, from 375 barrels per day to 520 barrels per day.
