Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the discovery of additional oil and gas reserves from its Burgzai X-01 (slant) well in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of this development through a notice on Friday.
According to the notice, OGDCL, the operator of the Nashpa Exploration License with a 65% working interest, in partnership with Pakistan Petroleum Limited (30%) and Government Holdings Private Limited (5% carried interest), successfully discovered oil and gas in the Lumshewal formation of the Burgzai X-01 (slant) well in Kohat.
During the Cased Hole Drill Stem Test (CHDST-04) conducted in the Hangu and Lumshewal formations, the well produced 225 barrels of oil per day and 1.01 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd). The test was performed at a 32/64-inch choke size and 190 PSIG wellhead flowing pressure.
Drilling of the well began on December 30, 2024, as an exploration well to assess hydrocarbon potential in the Lockhart, Hangu, Lumshewal, Samana Suk, Shinwari, Detha, and Kingriali formations. The well was successfully drilled to a total depth of 5,170 meters in the Kingriali formation.
