Significant progress has been made in the investigation into the death of Karachi-based young businessman Mir Raza, with an inquiry committee compiling a detailed timeline of his final 12 hours.

According to investigative sources, Mir Raza spent his final hours attempting to secure investment and loans. At 5:54pm on July 27, he met Ahmed Raja on Shahrah-e-Faisal, where they discussed an investment of Rs7 million to Rs8 million.

At 7:05pm, he was informed by a bank that a Rs10 million loan had been approved in his sister’s name. His earlier loan application had reportedly been rejected.

Sources said that at 8:23pm, Farooq Mahmood declined to invest. At 11:50pm, Mir Raza had dinner with his friend Abdul Razzaq at Ghaffar Kabab House.

According to the investigation, at midnight, Mir Raza urgently asked Sarim Syed for a Rs30 million loan, describing the following morning as extremely difficult. His smartwatch was also found to contain a prayer related to financial independence and repayment of debt.

The timeline shows that at 12:23am, he deactivated his Instagram account. At 2:42am, he also deactivated his Facebook, LinkedIn and Snapchat accounts.

At 3:10am, his fiancée made several phone calls and sent messages but received no response. She subsequently expressed concern after noticing that his social media accounts had disappeared.

According to investigative sources, at 3:18am, Mir Raza transferred money from his accounts to his parents’ accounts. At 3:42am, he reached his shop from home and took a security guard’s pistol.

At 3:53am, he returned home with the pistol. At 4:09am, he left in an online taxi. During the journey, at 4:22am, he switched off his mobile phone and threw it outside.

At 4:35am, he reached an area near the scene. The final CCTV footage reportedly shows him walking alone approximately 100 to 150 metres from the location where his body was later found.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining various aspects of the case in light of the timeline.
