ISLAMABAD: People seeking to buy or build their own homes have received a major boost with the formal launch of the National Housing Policy 2026 in the federal capital. The policy aims to make affordable housing available to ordinary citizens on easier and more accessible terms.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Masood Malik said the new housing policy provides a comprehensive and practical framework for homeless and low-income segments of society.

He said the initiative would make it easier for ordinary citizens to achieve their dream of owning a home.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Musadik Malik reiterated the government’s commitment to using all available resources to ensure the effective implementation of the policy.

He stressed that the initiative would not only help address the country’s housing shortage but would also serve as a key pillar for promoting sustainable and balanced urban development.

The federal minister further said that the residential units to be developed under the initiative would be environmentally friendly, designed in line with modern requirements and equipped to address the potential impacts of climate change.

The policy is aimed at creating a more sustainable housing framework while expanding access to affordable residential facilities for vulnerable and low-income sections of society.
